The oldest of Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt’s six children has reportedly filed paperwork to be known simply as Maddox Jolie. According to TMZ, the 24-year-old has filed legal paperwork to remove “Pitt” from his surname. If approved by a judge, he would legally be known as Maddox Chivan Jolie.

Representatives for Brad Pitt have declined to comment, and there has been no response from Angelina Jolie’s team.

This isn’t the first time Maddox has moved away from the Jolie-Pitt surname. When he served as an assistant director on Angelina Jolie’s 2025 film Couture, he was credited as Maddox Jolie. It premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival and later opened in theaters across France. The change differed from 2024, when he served as a production assistant on the biopic Maria and appeared in the credits as Maddox Jolie-Pitt.

Maddox is the eldest of the six children shared by Jolie and Pitt. Their separation began in 2016, with the divorce not finalized until 2024. Maddox’s siblings, Pax, Zahara, Shiloh, and twins Knox and Vivienne have also taken steps away from the Pitt name. In 2024, Vivienne used “Vivienne Jolie” for her work on the Broadway show “The Outsiders,” which Angelina produced. The same year Zahara introduced herself as Zahara Marley Jolie at a Spelman College sorority event, and she did it again at her graduation in 2026, then there is Shiloh, who dropped “Pitt” entirely after she filed for a name change on her 18th birthday. The court approved it, so now she is Shiloh Jolie.

Angelina adopted Maddox back in 2002, before she was with Brad. Pitt adopted him later, and in 2006 a judge gave Maddox and Zahara the full Jolie-Pitt surname. Now, more than twenty years later, that double-barreled last name is fading away from both public view and legal records for several of the Jolie-Pitt kids.

The large 18-karat gold signet rings feature two skeleton lovers gazing at each other, framed by deep plum-colored flowers “symbolizing eternal love and devotion,” according to a press release from the jeweler. The artwork also includes a bright red heart with the initials “TB” and “KB,”etched with flames details, while star-set diamonds appear throughout the design.

The phrase “Til Death Do Us Part” also references “Til Death Do Us Part: Kourtney & Travis” was also the title of their Hulu wedding special released in 2023. The jewelry commemorates the couple’s recent anniversary celebrations. Last week, Kourtney marked four years since their Portofino wedding ceremony by posting throwback wedding photos with the caption, “5.22.22 ❤ forever.”

The couple legally tied the knot in a courthouse ceremony in Santa Barbara on May 15, 2022, before holding a wedding celebration in Portofino, Italy, on May 22 in front of family and friends. Prior to both ceremonies, they held a late-night “practice wedding” at the One Love Wedding Chapel in Las Vegas in April 2022.
