After 34 Years, E! News Is Cancelled — But Its Legacy Isn’t

Published

on

It’s official: after more than three decades on air, E! News has been cancelled. While to some, it’s just another show signing off. To others, it’s the end of an era.

NBCUniversal announced the cancellation this month as part of a broader cost-cutting move across its cable networks. Alongside E! News, the company also pulled the plug on Access Hollywood and Home and Family. But what exactly are we saying goodbye to?

A Show That Understood the Assignment Before It Existed

When E! News first aired in 1991, it filled a gap no one else was taking seriously, celebrity news, but with polish and purpose. It wasn’t a tabloid circus. There were no intrusive paparazzi clips, no chaos. Instead, it delivered structured segments, thoughtful interviews, and a format that treated entertainment like it actually mattered.

By the time Giuliana Rancic and Ryan Seacrest became household names, E! News had evolved into something far bigger than a show, it had become part of the cultural fabric, shaping how audiences engaged with fame, fashion, and Hollywood itself.

It was the one place where entertainment, fashion, and celebrity news all came together in a way that was easy to watch and enjoy. From red carpet exclusives to behind-the-scenes looks at Hollywood lives, it helped create an entire genre of entertainment journalism that others would try (and often fail) to replicate.

Why It’s Ending Now

The cancellation wasn’t exactly shocking. Ratings have been in decline. The format started to feel old, especially now that people scroll nonstop and don’t pay attention for long.

Let’s be honest: celebrity news is now on your phone, in your feed, and updated by the second. Twitter breaks the news, TikTok unpacks it, and podcasts provide the commentary. Where E! News once led the narrative, it now struggled to keep up. In 2020, the show went off the air during the COVID-19 shutdowns, and while it returned in 2022 with a fresh format and new hosts, Adrienne Bailon-Houghton and Justin Sylvester, the reboot never fully regained its old momentum. The glossy set, the slower pace, the once-coveted exclusives, they no longer held the same weight in a digital-first, creator-led media landscape.

The cancellation also comes as part of a larger shift in the network’s strategy, prioritizing digital and social content to meet modern audiences where they are. While the nightly show is ending, E! as a brand isn’t disappearing. The network will continue airing its original programming, including Botched Presents: Plastic Surgery Rewind and Honestly Cavallari: The Headline Tour, along with its acquired content.

A Legacy That Outlasts the Show

But here’s the thing: E! News didn’t just report on celebrity culture. It shaped how we see it today. Before there were TikTok clips breaking down Oscar dresses, E! News gave us live red carpet coverage. Before Instagram captions turned into press statements, E! News sat down for the interviews that mattered. It turned entertainment news into something serious like a real, respected part of journalism.

Of course, it wasn’t perfect. Sometimes it leaned too heavily into fluff. Sometimes it got caught in the shallows of fame. But it also tapped into something more important: the cultural value of watching, caring, and connecting through the stories of people in the spotlight.

That’s the legacy. Not the show. Not the logo. But the way it validated that pop culture does matter, because people matter. It gave a structure to celebrity storytelling. It offered tone and timing before we knew what “viral” meant. And even as it fades from the airwaves, you can still feel its fingerprints everywhere, in the way we binge celebrity recaps on YouTube, follow paparazzi breakdowns on Instagram, or dissect drama in Twitter threads. E! News walked so content creators could run.

Conclusion

The cancellation of E! News doesn’t mean the end of celebrity culture. Far from it. If anything, it shows how much it has evolved and how fast the pace has become.

But let’s not pretend like E! News didn’t matter. It was there before red carpets were digital, before everyone became their own media outlet, before “influencer” was a career path. And it did its job with a polish and presence that few shows since have managed to match. So, as we scroll on and stream forward, maybe take a moment to remember the show that made watching stars feel like its own kind of stardom. Not everything needs to go viral to leave a mark.

Camila Cabello and Billionaire Heir Henry Junior Chalhoub Split After More Than a Year Together

Published

on

Camila Cabello and Henry Junior Chalhoub have ended their relationship after a year together. As expected from these two, the breakup was kept out of the public eye, just like most of their relationship.

The pair were first linked in November 2024 being seen together at an Elie Saab after-party in Saudi Arabia. Speculation gained traction in January 2025 when the pair were photographed kissing in St. Barts. It was their first widely circulated public sighting as a couple, and one of the limited times they shared their relationship publicly.

From there, appearances came in carefully chosen moments. They attended Chanel’s Fall/Winter show at Paris Fashion Week in March 2025, Later that summer, Cabello shared Ibiza vacation photo posting a “falling in love” caption that fans linked to Chalhoub. They also appeared together at Coachella this year, where Cabello surprised everyone by joining Young Thug to perform “Havana.” It was among their final public appearances as a couple.

Chalhoub is the heir to the Chalhoub Group, that major luxury retail business his family built out of Dubai. The company operates a large retail network globally and partners with luxury brands including Chanel, Louis Vuitton, and Christian Louboutin. The family wealth has been estimated in the billion-dollar range.

Cabello, who’s 29, has always kept her private life extra private. Back in 2019, she told Elle, “Love is the most sacred, precious thing to me. I want to always feel like my love is between me and that person, and never belonging to anyone else.” She has largely maintained that stance since, even with the glare of fame and after her much-talked-about romance with Shawn Mendes.

Before Henry, Cabello and Mendes dated between 2019 and 2021. They had a brief rekindling in 2023, but did not continue. Mendes has spoken about the pressures of public attention during the breakup.

Regarding the reported split, neither Camila Cabello nor Henry Junior Chalhoub has made a public statement. The relationship was kept largely out of the spotlight throughout its duration, with only a limited number of appearances and shared moments.

Pete Davidson Praises Kim Kardashian’s Resilience: ‘She’s Superhuman’

There is something quietly striking about an ex-partner who speaks openly and respectfully about someone they once dated, offering admiration without bitterness, irony, or restraint. Pete Davidson offered precisely that during a recent episode of his Netflix podcast, “The Pete Davidson Show,” delivering remarks that felt notably more grounded than the typical celebrity soundbite.

Sitting across from comedian Nikki Glaser, Davidson reflected on his nine-month relationship with Kim Kardashian with a level of perspective that feels shaped by time and distance rather than immediacy. “She’s superhuman,” he said. “I learned from her that no matter what’s going on, whatever’s in the news, you’re still you, and you can just still go do stuff.”

That is not a small observation, For nearly two decades, Kardashian has been scrutinized, dismissed, and frequently underestimated, yet she has continued to show up in her businesses, family life, and professional pursuits.

Davidson, who has dealt with mental health challenges and media scrutiny, appeared to recognise a sense of resilience in what he witnessed.

What surprised him most, though, was her acting. “Isn’t it crazy Kim’s good at acting?” he said, recalling the moment she casually announced she wanted to be an actress. “I was like, ‘F*** yeah’, and then she’s just good at it.”

Glaser, who is co-starring with Kardashian in the upcoming film “Fifth Wheel,” echoed the sentiment without hesitation. “She’s amazing. She’s so smart. She does anything she wants to do.” Glaser went further, noting the particular courage it took for Kardashian to step into acting knowing full well the audience was primed to watch her fail.

That scrutiny is real. Kardashian made her acting debut in “American Horror Story: Delicate” in 2023, drawing significant attention from critics and viewers. She later secured a lead role in Hulu’s “All’s Fair” in 2025.

Kardashian and Davidson parted ways in August 2022, both have moved on, Kardashian has also been linked to Formula One champion Lewis Hamilton. while Davidson welcomed a daughter with Elsie Hewitt in December 2025, though that relationship ended in May 2026.

Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie’s Eldest Son Maddox Files for an Official Name Change

Published

The oldest of Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt’s six children has reportedly filed paperwork to be known simply as Maddox Jolie. According to TMZ, the 24-year-old has filed legal paperwork to remove “Pitt” from his surname. If approved by a judge, he would legally be known as Maddox Chivan Jolie.

Representatives for Brad Pitt have declined to comment, and there has been no response from Angelina Jolie’s team.

This isn’t the first time Maddox has moved away from the Jolie-Pitt surname. When he served as an assistant director on Angelina Jolie’s 2025 film “Couture,” he was credited as Maddox Jolie. It premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival and later opened in theaters across France. The change differed from 2024, when he served as a production assistant on the biopic “Maria” and appeared in the credit as Maddox Jolie-Pitt.

Maddox is the eldest of the six children shared by Jolie and Pitt. Their separation began in 2016, with the divorce not finalized until 2024. Maddox’s siblings, Pax, Zahara, Shiloh, and twins Knox and Vivienne have also taken steps away from the Pitt name. In 2024, Vivienne used “Vivienne Jolie” for her work on the Broadway show “The Outsiders,” which Angelina produced. The same year Zahara introduced herself as Zahara Marley Jolie at a Spelman College sorority event, and she did it again at her graduation in 2026, then there is Shiloh, who dropped “Pitt” entirely after she filed for a name change on her 18th birthday. The court approved it, so now she is Shiloh Jolie.

The developments have fueled ongoing speculation about tension between Brad Pitt and some of his children years after the split – The long-running speculation about tension between Pitt and some of his children has continued over the years

Angelina adopted Maddox back in 2002, before she was with Brad. Pitt adopted him later, and in 2006 a judge gave Maddox and Zahara the full Jolie-Pitt surname. Now, more than twenty years later, that double-barreled last name is fading away from both public view and legal records for several of the Jolie-Pitt kids.
