Cristiano Ronaldo and Georgina Rodríguez Reveal Why They Got Married in Their Living Room

Cristiano Ronaldo and Georgina Rodríguez marked their 10th anniversary by getting married in the living room of their home in Portugal, choosing a private ceremony with their children over the grand wedding Rodríguez once imagined.

The couple, who have been together for over a decade, explained that the decision was about creating a personal memory their family could carry with them. In an interview with Vogue, Rodríguez said they wanted the wedding to take place in the same space where they share everyday life.

“We’ve chosen to do it in the living room of our house here, where we have breakfast, lunch, and dinner, and where we live the reality of our lives,” she said.

“I want the children to think, ‘Something wonderful happened at this table, the wedding vows of our parents,’” Rodríguez said, explaining why they chose to exchange vows at home rather than in a more elaborate setting.

Ronaldo appeared to embrace the simplicity of the idea, although he jokingly pointed out that the couple might eventually change the room’s décor. The intimate ceremony also reflected Rodríguez’s changing perspective on what a wedding should look like.

“When I was a little girl,” she said, “I dreamt of the biggest castle, the biggest carriage, the longest dress, a crown full of diamonds. And now I’m saying: no.”

Instead, she wanted to celebrate privately with Ronaldo and their children. “I want something intimate, with my partner and our children, at home,” she said, adding that grand houses, cars, islands and other luxuries were already within their reach. For her, an intimate family celebration felt more unusual.

Rodríguez described the year as a “crazy” one filled with work commitments, competitions and family life, but she did not want their 10th anniversary to pass without celebrating it. She also told Vogue that they planned to have a bigger wedding with family and friends in the future.

Ronaldo and Rodríguez first met in 2016, when she was working at a Gucci store in Madrid, and their relationship developed into one of football and celebrity culture’s most closely followed partnerships. Rodríguez announced their engagement on Instagram in August 2025.

Selena Gomez Sued by Investors Over Mental Health Startup

Published

Selena Gomez is facing a lawsuit from five investors who backed Wondermind Global, the mental health company she co-founded with her mother, Mandy Teefey, and entrepreneur Daniella Pierson.

The investors are seeking to recover about $1.2 million they say they put into the business, along with damages and legal costs. The lawsuit alleges that Gomez and the other founders made commitments about the company’s plans and operations that were not fulfilled.

A central allegation concerns Gomez’s role in Wondermind’s development. According to the complaint, investors were told she would be “actively building” the company as its head of marketing. The claim further alleges that Gomez signed an agreement to perform those duties but later failed to do so.

The investors also allege that Wondermind was presented as having several revenue-generating initiatives in development, including advertising partnerships, celebrity cover stories and a mobile app. The complaint also alleges that investors were told Wondermind had secured institutional partnerships with JPMorgan and Fidelity, which were expected to generate advertising revenue. According to the lawsuit, none of those initiatives or partnerships materialised.

Wondermind was founded in 2021 with the goal of making mental health and wellness content more accessible. Gomez had already spoken publicly about her own experiences with mental health.

The investors claim Wondermind struggled financially and eventually failed to meet basic business obligations, including paying employees and vendors on time. They also allege that they were not properly informed about the company’s financial and operational problems.

According to the complaint, the investors only became aware of the extent of Wondermind’s difficulties after September 2025 investigation by The Cut examined the company’s finances and management.

After learning about Wondermind’s financial and operational problems, the investors allegedly demanded that their money be returned. According to the lawsuit, Teefey told them that the funds would be placed in an escrow account for repayment, but the money was never returned. The investors say their attempts to obtain repayment and further information eventually went unanswered, leaving them to seek the return of their investments through the lawsuit.

Gomez remains listed as a co-founder on Wondermind’s website, while her mother now serves as chief executive following Pierson’s departure from the company.

The lawsuit does not establish that the allegations are true. Gomez and Wondermind have been contacted for comment, but neither had responded at the time of publication.

Ronaldo has previously spoken about how unexpectedly serious the relationship became. In I Am Georgina, Rodríguez’s Netflix series, he recalled initially being unsure where their romance would lead before eventually realising she was “the woman of my life.”

Their engagement came after years together. Rodríguez announced it on Instagram in August 2025 with a photograph showing her hand over Ronaldo’s and her oval-shaped diamond engagement ring. “Sí, quiero. En esta y en todas mis vidas,” she wrote, meaning, “Yes, I do. In this and in all my lives.”

Speaking about the proposal in a December 2025 interview with Elle Spain, Rodríguez said she was shocked when Ronaldo asked her to marry him. She also joked about the enormous engagement ring, calling it “the least he could offer me after 10 years of waiting.”

Now, after years of building a life and family together, Ronaldo and Rodríguez have officially become husband and wife in an intimate celebration in Portugal.
